This is the core of our business. Only since 1946 was a method of optimizing company profits found which was short and fast. Back in the UK, from 1939-1945, this technique was unknown so in WW2, optimisation was carried out by an army of women solving tens of millions of equations to feed to the population most nutritiously, given the land and the crops we had. And to deploy the troops. It was lucky dip as to who came out with the best answer.

Leonid Kantorovich in the USSR discovered it in 1939 and was awarded a Nobel Prize in 1974 in Economics for this work. In the USA, George B Dantzig also discovered the same solution at the same time. It was made public in 1946. They do not award a Nobel for Maths, so in 1974 Gerald Ford gave him medals and cash. He and his work transformed worlds of business, agriculture and economics.
They discovered The Simplex Algorithm. This algorithm then did two things. Firstly, in the 1950’s. 60’s and 70’s, it made big companies even more profitable because they could afford the mainframe and team to run the Simplex. And it has continued in the same manner ever since. It has remained exclusive and expensive. All the FTSE and the next largest 500 companies use the Simplex to be profitable. When we get to the Middle market of companies with a turnover from £2 Million to £200 Million, the use of optimization and the Simplex is almost unknown. We aim to change that.
So let's get a couple of things straight. It makes companies more profitable. It produces startling insights that directors can act on. Our way of doing it is interactive and we can have you playing with a model of your company in a week.
Here's the rub: We are selling an unknown technique, to a market which does not use it and does not usually have the skills to even understand it immediately.
We might as well be selling black magic or astrology for all the traction our case histories generate. In fact, Astrology is more accepted and at least in Sloan Square and the Kings Road, sells for £1,000 an hour for a consultation which really is bunkum.

We can do this using an “Example” company, but it is much more useful to you if we can, in confidence, use your figures. These will be easily available from your company plan, sales plan and if you manufacture, your build costs, or your sales and marketing costs if you sell services.
Figures. What we ask for is a list of what you make or sell and the profit on each item when you make a sale. Then we need to understand your constraints. These are what stop you from making or selling as much as you want. We will explain this on the phone.
Upsets. We often find that the company plan is unfeasible. The resources are not available to meet the plan. That is usually easily fixed in half a day. Another upset is that the optimisation will ruthlessly knock out a product. It might show a contribution on the sales plan, but it is stealing resources from other more profitable products. It is up to you to decide what to do, but at least you know. You can of course use our model to work out the best plan of action.
